Moroccan proptech startup Agenz has successfully closed a $5 million funding round to accelerate product development and bolster its artificial intelligence capabilities. The company operates a digital platform that streamlines real estate transactions across Morocco's growing property market.
The funding round attracted investment from Breega, a European venture capital firm, alongside Attijariwafa Ventures and Saviu Ventures, an Africa-focused growth capital fund. This represents a significant milestone for the Casablanca-based company three years after its initial $1.3 million pre-Series A round.
Market Opportunity Drives Investment
The investment comes as Morocco's property market experiences renewed activity. Residential land transactions exceeded 140,000 in 2023, marking an increase from 2022 figures according to World Bank data. This growth highlights expanding opportunities for digital platforms that simplify property transactions.
Malik Belkeziz, Co-founder and CEO of Agenz, emphasized the company's technology-driven approach to market transformation. The startup was founded in 2021 by Malik and Badr Belkeziz, focusing on creating an integrated real estate ecosystem.
"We believe the future of real estate will be built on the responsible use of data and artificial intelligence. Our ambition is to leverage technology to create a more transparent, secure and accessible market, while keeping user trust at the centre of everything we do."
Platform Expansion Plans
Agenz operates an integrated platform combining property valuation tools, market intelligence, professional services solutions, and digital transaction capabilities. The fresh capital will enable expansion of services targeting individuals, real estate agents, developers, investors, and financial institutions.
The company has demonstrated strong growth since launching its transaction platform in 2023, with increasing transaction volumes across its digital infrastructure. This growth trajectory aligns with broader trends in African fintech and AI technology adoption across the continent.
Investor Confidence in Moroccan Tech
Driss Ibenmansour, Partner at Breega, highlighted Agenz's strategic positioning within Morocco's evolving real estate sector. The European VC firm's participation reflects growing international interest in North African technology companies.
"Agenz has built, in just a few years, the platform the Moroccan real estate sector was missing, bringing together data, tools and transactions into one seamless experience. We believe this funding will help accelerate an already ongoing transformation of the market."
Future Market Impact
The funding positions Agenz to strengthen its artificial intelligence capabilities while expanding market reach across Morocco's real estate ecosystem. The company's focus on data-driven solutions addresses persistent challenges in property transaction transparency and efficiency.
With participation from both regional and international investors, the round demonstrates growing confidence in Morocco's technology sector and its potential to drive regional real estate innovation. The startup's success could encourage similar fintech developments across North and West Africa.
