OmniBSIC Bank Becomes First African Bank to Embed Blockchain Nature Finance

Historic Partnership Launches Africa's First Banking-Integrated Nature Finance

OmniBSIC Bank Ghana Ltd has established itself as the first financial institution in Ghana and across Africa to integrate verified nature finance infrastructure into its core corporate banking operations. The milestone achievement follows a strategic partnership with Indelible, the fintech company that developed the Pay2Nature platform.

The collaboration enables OmniBSIC Bank's Corporate Banking team to deploy Pay2Nature technology that automatically routes micro-contributions from routine payment transactions to verified conservation and biodiversity projects throughout Africa. This creates a unified financial infrastructure connecting corporate clients, Ghanaian consumers, and local communities.

Key Stat: OmniBSIC Bank reported 104 percent growth in profit before tax to GH₵641 million in 2025, with total assets more than doubling to GH₵21.58 billion.

Blockchain Technology Ensures Transaction Transparency

The partnership directly supports Sustainable Development Goals 13 and 15, addressing climate action and life on land preservation. Through Pay2Nature's application programming interface layer and Software as a Service dashboard, OmniBSIC Bank gains access to Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures-aligned datasets.

This access enables corporate clients to conduct comprehensive biodiversity assessments and generate disclosure-ready sustainability reports. Every financial flow and impact claim receives cryptographic signatures using blockchain technology, ensuring independent verification even on low-cost devices with limited connectivity.

"We are enabling clients to integrate sustainability directly into their everyday transactions," said OmniBSIC Bank Managing Director Daniel Asiedu, adding that the partnership aligns profitability with purpose and positions Ghana at the forefront of nature finance globally.

Regional Expansion Plans Target Diaspora Connections

The initiative extends beyond Ghana's borders with planned solutions designed to connect the Ghanaian diaspora to verified nature projects in their home country. This expansion aims to broaden access to nature-based finance as it emerges as a significant global asset class.

Rajesh Savji Parmar, Chief Executive Officer of Indelible, described Ghana as being at the centre of nature finance in Africa. He identified OmniBSIC Bank as the appropriate institution to lead this technological advancement across the continent.

Recognition and Performance Metrics

OmniBSIC Bank's recent accolades include recognition as Best Corporate Bank Ghana 2026 by Global Banking and Finance Review. The bank's strong financial performance provides a solid foundation for implementing innovative technological solutions in the sustainability sector.

The integration of blockchain-based nature finance represents a convergence of environmental responsibility and financial innovation. This development positions Ghana as a leader in sustainable banking practices across the African continent, potentially inspiring similar initiatives throughout the region.

The Pay2Nature platform's ability to operate on devices with limited connectivity addresses infrastructure challenges common across African markets. This accessibility feature ensures broader participation in nature finance initiatives regardless of technological limitations in rural or underserved areas.
