Paystack Launches AI Dashboard Redesign After 10 Years

Paystack has unveiled a comprehensive redesign of its merchant dashboard, marking the first major overhaul of the platform in ten years. The fintech company launched the new AI-powered interface to serve more than 300,000 businesses that process trillions of naira monthly across five African countries, including Nigeria, Ghana, and South Africa.

The dashboard rebuild arrives five months after Paystack announced significant organizational changes with the creation of The Stack Group, a holding company designed to oversee expansion beyond financial services.

"We are not moving away from financial technology. We are expanding our scope. Emerging technologies could include AI or stablecoins. The mandate is to solve both fintech and non-fintech problems that are critical to Africa's digital future and development," said Amandine Lobelle, Chief Operating Officer at Paystack.

Addressing Market Realities

The timing of the redesign reflects the operating environment across African markets, where more than 80% of businesses in some countries are small, informal operations. These business owners rely heavily on smartphones for daily operations, from customer communication to inventory management.

The company disclosed its profitability milestone alongside the organizational restructuring, achieving sustainable growth amid increasing pressure on African startups to demonstrate financial viability after years of venture capital expansion.

Simplifying Complex Workflows

Paystack's dashboard evolved over the years as the company introduced additional payment options, analytics tools, settlement features, and integrations. However, this evolution created complexity for merchants more interested in quickly understanding business health than navigating multiple workflows.

The rebuilt dashboard addresses this challenge through simplified user experience design. Its most notable feature enables merchants to pose plain-language questions about payment data and receive responses in tables, charts, or written summaries.

"As with all things that we do at Paystack, it is really just from listening to our merchants, understanding what works for them, what they need right now, and the challenges they are facing," explained Dara Assim-Ita, Senior Product Designer at Paystack.

Beyond Revenue Tracking

According to Assim-Ita, merchant requirements have expanded beyond simple daily revenue monitoring. Businesses increasingly seek to understand trend causation, identify growth-driving customer segments, and assess how operational changes affect transaction performance.

The new interface allows merchants to ask direct questions such as "What happened with this transaction?" or "Why is revenue down this week?" and receive immediate answers. This functionality transforms the dashboard from a static reporting tool into what the company describes as an intelligent command center.

This development aligns with broader trends in AI technology adoption across African fintech platforms, as companies seek to provide more accessible business intelligence to their merchant base.
