Common Ghana Scam Types to Know

🍕 Fake Food Vendor: Scammers use names like 'Pizzaman Ghana' or 'Chickenman Delivery' on WhatsApp and social media. They collect advance payment then disappear or deliver nothing.
📦 Advance Payment Trap: Any seller asking you to pay before delivery or inspection — especially for electronics, phones, clothing, or house rentals — is high risk. Inspect before you pay.
📲 MoMo Reversal: Someone sends you money 'by mistake' and asks you to return it. The original transfer later reverses.
💸 Fake Delivery Fee: SMS claiming your package needs a small fee (GHS 3–10) to be released. Link steals your card details.
🎰 Lottery/Telecom Prize: You've 'won' a prize from MTN/Vodafone. Requires a fee to claim. There is no prize.
🐷 Pig Butchering: Friendly 'wrong number' contact that builds trust before introducing a guaranteed crypto investment.
💼 Fake Job Offer: Work-from-home job requiring an upfront payment for 'registration' or 'training materials.'
🔑 OTP Phishing: Caller claims to be your bank and needs the code sent to your phone to 'verify' your account.

About This Tool

Got a message that feels off? Paste it here, or upload a screenshot of it, and this checker looks for the tricks scammers in Ghana use again and again: MoMo "sent by mistake" reversals, fake food vendors like "Pizzaman", pay-before-delivery sellers, fake delivery fees, prize and lottery claims, OTP requests, free data giveaways and more. You get a simple verdict and a plain explanation of every red flag it found. The check runs right in your browser — we do not keep your messages.

How to Use

  1. 1Choose "Check a Message" to test a text, WhatsApp or SMS message, or "Check a Number" to look at a phone number
  2. 2Paste the message, tap "Upload screenshot", or paste a screenshot straight into the box (Ctrl+V)
  3. 3Tap "Check for Scam Patterns"
  4. 4Read the verdict and each red flag it lists, then decide what to do before you reply, click or pay

Why Use This?

Scammers count on you acting fast, before you have had time to think. A quick second look catches the warning signs that are easy to miss in the moment — urgency, requests to pay first, links, and codes. If even one of those shows up, slow down and check with the person or company through a number you already trust.
